What are Literotica Author Challenges?

Literotica Author Challenges are themed special events (similar to Special Contests) created by authors active in the Literotica community. Stories published as part of an Author Challenge must meet the criteria set by the creator of the challenge.

Author Challenges are different from Literotica Special Story Contests in that they are conceived and organized by individual authors (or groups of authors), not by Literotica itself. Challenges are usually done for fun rather than prizes. Author Challenges are supported by Literotica - so works published as part of a challenge receive many of the benefits of an official contest, most notably increased exposure to readers.

There have been many Challenges created by Lit authors over the years, and the possibilities are limitless. Popular examples include “Hammered: an Ode to Mickey Spillane” and “The 750 Word Project”. The former requires entrants to write stories in the voice of noir crime novelist Mickey Spillane; the later requires eligible stories to be exactly (not one word more or less than) 750 words.

Literotica authors interested in participating in an Author Challenge can find details on all of the ongoing events (at least the ones we know about) in the “Author-Organized Challenge List” thread in the Literotica Authors Hangout Forum. There should be a thread by that name for each year listing the upcoming, current, and past events.

Literotica members interested in creating an Author Challenge should visit the Literotica Authors Hangout Forum and familiarize themselves with the workings of the community there. Successful Author Challenges are dependent on the participation of other authors, so it’s important that ideas for potential challenges generate interest from other authors. For more information on the process for creating your own Author Challenge, check this post in the Literotica Forum.
