How are the Story Categories on Literotica selected and used?

Literotica organizes stories (so that readers can find them easily) using several different methods. The primary way that stories are organized is by our list of Story Categories.

Every time an author publishes a story on Literotica, they must choose a single Category that the story will be published in. While many stories may fit into multiple categories, the primary Category that the author selects should reflect the core theme or content of the story. The Category for each story is shown on the Story Card and on the Story Page breadcrumb navigation (just above the Story Title).

In addition to its primary Category, every story on the site can be tagged with Story Tags to help readers further understand what type of content is included in the story. Authors may also optionally use Author Notes or Trigger Warnings to let the reader know what type of content is included, before they start reading the story.

If you believe that a story you’ve read is in the incorrect Category, please click the “Report Story” link at the bottom of the story page and let us know. We review all reports, but reports with specific detailed information on what content makes the story more suitable for a different Category will get priority.

The Literotica Category list has grown with the community and we may add new categories or change existing categories when needed. If you have an idea for a new Literotica Category, or you believe that we should make changes to an existing Category, please feel free to let us know!
